Letters To Jeff Pedersen

From The Bear Creek Kids & Classmates

About 3 weeks ago the kids and I thought it would be great if we made a poster about Jeff and shared it with their classes so they could write him letters. The kids really got into it. They downloaded all the pictures and his biography and made a poster with stars , American Flags, with Jeff in the middle. Truly, it turned out so nice. I went and talked to Daniel's class. He is in 2nd grade. They were facsinated and wrote the sweetest letters. Some brings tears to your eyes, others you're just trying to figure out what they're saying. Nick, my 5th grader, did his own presentation. It turned out well. They were so impressed Jeff knew arabic, interrogator, helped with the POW situation. He had his one teacher in tears just talking about it. I told her I'm the same way. I still cry at brady bunch reruns! There are 52 letters from the 5th graders. Aubrey(7th grade) made a care package for Jeff . It was for extra credit and she had to tell the class about him. - Carol

Here is a compilation of those letters from Carol's kids. I have left the spelling and wording as received. The students wrote these on April 14, 2003. I am afraid all you get here is the text version which does not convey the feelings these kids had as they wrote their message to Jeff. Their mini-posters had fantastic drawings of the war, guns, flags, stars & stripes, and their hero that really added a lot. This gives you a perspective of war from a kid's view. One student mentions his "papa" went to a war and did not come back. I have scanned several and you will find a link to their drawing. - Greg

The Marines came and tore it down, and the Iraqis stomped on it! I only have a few questions to ask. What is it like in the army, when do you think this war will end, and why did you join the army? Come back alive, soldier! Thank you for helping the nation and Iraqis. (good ones) Kyle
