In 2019 the Cabin rentals are being managed by VACASA. Rentals are a very important facet in keeping the cabin in great shape. A new well is going to be in place this year and cost is high. Last summer we replaced the roof/shingles. Greg replaced the 3 windows on the east side of the cabin with 3 vinyl Awning windows. Kathy replaced the window coverings also. If you have any questions about the cabin, I have written a User's Guide that includes how to troubleshoot electrical, Pet concerns, how to light the water heater, etc. This guide is meant for anyone unfamiliar with these types of common problems that may arise during their stay. Please open and read the guide by clicking on this link: Cabin Guide There is an index on page 3. The "Family Advisory Committee" now has put the cabin up for rent as shown in the schedule below. If you want to use a "rental" time slot, the FAC has decided family does not have to pay the rental fee. You will contact Vacasa Property Management to make your arrangements. Please keep in mind that paid renters will take priority over family when it comes to using the cabin during the rental season. We will continue the practice of renting for some time to help with the annual expenses incurred to keep the cabin in shape, pay for taxes, etc.. In the summer of 2012, the FAC had a meeting and made some decisions on the use of the cabin. Please open these documents and read them: New Policies on Cabin Cleaning Fee and on Dogs and CHECKLIST FOR CLEANING 11-29-12

If you haven't stayed in the cabin for a while,
you should give it a try! It still has the lovely feel of Grandma's
touch, with all of her paintings and pictures of family. Most of the
furniture is still there, and all of her dishes are there. The process
for summer: •If you do stay at the cabin over the summer during open times, please leave the cabin as clean as you found it so the next renters come in to a nice, clean home away from home. Things are looking really good for the summer rental of Grandma's cabin. So far we have one family from Scotland in June, families from Arizona, Indiana, Texas, and Nebraska in July, and a family from Illinois in August. The realtor is working on one more contract for June. This is good news for the budget, and we'll be able to set aside $$ for future needs. Most likely, there will be more renters interested before all is said and done. For a first-time rental, this is very good. Here are some highlights that you should know: •The curtain rods in the front of the cabin have been replaced, and I "remade" the old gold curtains to fit in three sections so that they can now be easily opened and closed. I couldn't wash them, as they would have fallen apart, but they are "refreshed." •The sun room can easily sit six people
around the table, as I removed the old 3-piece chair set to make more
room so families can sit together for meals. •There is a new shelf unit in the loft with decks of cards and other family games, and a couple of nice big throw pillows for kids. If you have any games you would like to donate, bring them up. •Last summer Glenda's brother-in-law painted
ALL of the old wooden outdoor furniture the traditional red, and it
looks great! •The loft window to the sun room and kitchen
window to the hall by the bathroom now have safety bars. •Dean arranged for a bear-proof trash container that will be picked up each week (summer only). I hope you are all having a wonderful summer and FINALLY enjoying this wonderful summer weather. It feels so good. I think that's all. Take care, and hope to see many of you at the reunion at the end of July! Love, Donna |
