Funny Stories

This page is dedicated the humorous side of the Family Pedersen. I have many stories in the works at this time and will soon be publishing them here. These will be based on personal accounts of "incidents" that have happened to some of us. Please feel free to send your funny stories for all to enjoy (keep them in good taste). These are the stories you hear when attending the reunions and other get togethers.

Harold and the cattle chute!
Bellevue, Nebraska 1932 Harold -12 years old, Stan -10 years old and my friend Andy, -10 years old.

At this age Harold always prided himself in that he could run faster than us, jump farther, and do anything better than us or anybody his age, (which sad to say was true). So on this day my friend Andy and I decided to go and play on his dad's dairy farm on the outskirts of Bellevue (just south of Omaha on the Missouri River). To take Harold down a notch or two, we took him along. Alongside the dairy barn there was a long, built-up 4 foot ramp where the hired men would wheel barrow the cow manure out to the end and dump it. It was like a small lake
of manure there about 3 feet deep. It had crusted over so it looked hard enough to jump on. Harold didn't know that, but we did. We told him we would bet we could beat him to the end of the ramp and jump out farther than he could. Naturally, he took the bait, beat us to the end and jumped way out in the manure and sank three feet in the soupy manure. Of course we never did jump off the end and we just laughed at him. Dripping with manure juice, he headed for the milk house to wash off the manure. We peeked in a side window and laughed our heads off. He looked up just then and saw us. He looked so funny in his dirty yellow long-handles. Andy and I made a swift retreat back to his house. Needless to say, I beat Harold home to Bellevue (running 2 miles from the dairy).
This is not to say that Harold and I didn't get along because we did, being close to the same age. We always played together, hunted deer and elk together, etc.
