General Information
The "FamilyPedersen" website was set up and is being maintained
by Greg Pedersen. Need your news stories, achievements, pictures, etc.
to keep the site fresh and give you all a chance to share. If you don’t
send anything, you don’t know what your relatives might scrounge
up for you.
1) If you send pictures electronically, please send them
as attachments (not embedded in the email body – MSN does not let
me copy them from the email).
2) I have a scanner so I can take your original "paper" photos
and copy them to electronic files for the site. Send them to my address
below. If you want them returned, please provide a self addressed stamped
envelope so I can mail them back to you.
3) I have several family members who have offered to write biographies
for their families and will be adding those as they come in. If you have
something to offer, please send them. If corrections and/or additions
need to be made, I can do it quickly after I have been informed. It would
be nice for each family member to have at least a small biography so the
family can be "in touch" with our family as it continues to
grow and we seem to be getting further apart.
4) I am open to new ideas and will move pictures around to make your visits
interesting most every time. Please participate.
5) Also, I am trying to be careful not to offend anyone with what is placed
on the site, so if you have a concern, let me know and we will work it
out. This is meant be a fun and informative place to visit.
6) I want to know of any problems you see with the site (misspellings,
wrong info, etc.) so just click on the "Email
The Webmaster" link to contact me via email. I will try to
make corrections/additions in a timely fashion.
A note about photos: I have to "resize" them so their download
time on your computers is tolerable. In doing this, some quality is lost,
but I try to watch this carefully. Keep in mind, some people have older
computers and we don't want them to have to sit and wait and wait for
each page to open so this is the tradeoff.
Example: the photos I scan or receive via electronic files range from
1.5 to 15 megabytes (1.5 to15 million bytes) in size. When I resize them,
I get them down to about 11 to 15 kilobytes (11 to 15 thousand bytes).
This changes the download times from over 5 minutes to less than 3 seconds
for a big picture based on a computer with a 56K modem.
Also, a tip about taking pictures - the closer you can get to the subject
the better the picture will be on screen. When I blow them up to fit a
page, they lose quality also. It is better for me to downsize the picture
to fit the subject on the page.
Digital cameras are now becoming a standard. If you plan on getting a
camera soon, consider one of these - especially for the web pages. They
take little editing and will be of better quality.
